How to Manage Navigation Menu Items in Epic Web Studios Platform
Step 1: Access Manage Menus
- From the epicPlatform dashboard, go to Menus
- Click Manage Menus
Step 2: Open a Specific Navigation Menu
- On the Manage Navigation Menus page, locate the menu you want to manage
- Click the menu's Edit or View Items action to see its items
Add a Menu Item
Step 1: Start a New Menu Item
- Click Add Menu Item (or Add Item) within the selected menu
Step 2: Fill Out Menu Item Details
- Label: The display name users will see
- Link/Target: Choose the destination (e.g., Page, Article, External URL)
- If linking to internal content, click Select and pick the item from the list
- Parent Item: Choose a parent to make this a sub-menu item (optional)
- Visibility/Status: Set to Published/Visible to show on the site
Step 3: Optional Settings
- Icon/Image: Select an icon if supported
- SEO/Tracking: Add any meta or tracking parameters if available
Step 4: Save
- Click Save or Save & Close
- Confirm the new item appears in the list under the correct parent and order
Edit a Menu Item
Step 1: Locate the Item
- In the menu's item list, find the item to change
Step 2: Open for Editing
- Click Edit (or the item label)
Step 3: Update Fields
- Adjust Label, Link/Target, Parent Item, or Visibility
- Make any changes to optional settings as needed
Step 4: Save Changes
- Click Save or Save & Close
- Verify changes on the frontend
Delete a Menu Item
Step 1: Select the Item
- In the menu's item list, locate the item you want to remove
Step 2: Delete
- Click Delete
- Confirm the deletion when prompted
Step 3: Verify
- Ensure the item is removed from the list
- Check the frontend to confirm it no longer appears
Reorder Menu Items
Step 1: View the 'Manage Navigation Menu Items' list
- You will see the 'Order' column in the list per section
Step 2: Set Order for the Menu Item within the Section
- Open the numbered dropdown
- Select placement in the list
Step 3: Auto Saves!
- No need to save, the page will refresh and auto-save once you have selected a new order
Tips and Best Practices
- Keep labels clear and concise for usability
- Use sub-menus sparingly to avoid deep navigation
- For external links, set Target: New Tab when appropriate
- Review visibility and ordering after each change to ensure the menu looks correct on the site frontend
